About East West Wellness & Rehab

East West Wellness & Rehab was founded by Dr. Katherin Duong, a licensed physical therapist, with a mission to bridge the gaps in our current healthcare system and offer integrative, patient-centered care. Rooted in her upbringing with traditional Chinese medicine and shaped by her clinical expertise in physical therapy, Dr. Duong brings together the best of Eastern and Western practices to expand healing options for her patients. Her approach goes beyond treating the physical body — creating a contemporary healing experience that deepens the connection between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

East West Wellness & Rehab offers physical therapy, cupping therapy, dry needling, personal training, and Reiki services. Every session is one-on-one with our licensed physical therapist, allowing us to understand your specific goals and tailor your wellness + rehab program to fit your lifestyle. Along with the personalized visits, our comprehensive care utilizing holistic modalities and patient-collaborative care helps you achieve amazing results in a shorter period of time.

Our team has worked with people of all ages and varying injuries, getting them long-lasting results. Common Conditions We Can Treat
with Cupping Therapy

While cupping therapy can look scary and intimidating, it is one of the safest and effective modalities to help relieve pain, decrease muscle tightness, and improve flexibility. This popular Eastern manual therapy treatment is becoming more and more popular in Western medicine due to its immediate results, non-invasiveness, and minimal side effects.

One of the benefits of cupping therapy includes detoxification. The suction can cause toxins and waste products from past injuries to arise, resulting in light red to purple marks. The darker the color, the greater amount of muscle stagnation in the region. By releasing the toxins and opening up the capillaries, cupping therapy stimulates blood flow and new nutrients to help the muscles and joints heal for a quicker recovery. As for the marks, your body clears it out fairly quickly! You can expect the marks to be gone within a few days to a week.

Cupping therapy is especially great to help recover from a tough workout, decrease poor posture with a desk job, and to relax from a busy, stressful day. Cupping therapy is versatile and beneficial for people of all ages and conditions – we recommend trying it out for yourself!

FAQ

Have Questions About Cupping Therapy?

  • Do I need a doctor's referral?

No referral is needed for cupping therapy! It’s considered a wellness service—similar to a massage—so you’re welcome to book a session anytime you’re ready for some relief, recovery, or a well-deserved self-care day.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Cupping therapy is considered a preventative and wellness service, which is typically not covered by insurance. We accept a variety of payment methods, including credit/debit cards, Health Spending Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Apple Pay, and Venmo.

  • What conditions can cupping therapy treat?

Cupping therapy is helpful for many common conditions, including muscle soreness, back and neck pain, joint discomfort, arthritis, headaches, and repetitive strain injuries like tennis elbow. It’s also great for general stress relief and recovery after physical activity.

  • Who can receive cupping therapy?

Cupping therapy is beneficial for people of all ages. While cupping is generally safe, there are certain conditions where it may not be appropriate. Contraindications include fresh surgical incisions, active cancer or ongoing cancer treatment, varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), certain skin conditions, seizure disorders, anemia, pacemakers, and a history of stroke. If you’re unsure whether cupping therapy is right for you, we encourage you to consult with our Certified Cupping Therapist. We’ll evaluate your specific symptoms and medical history to determine if cupping is appropriate—or recommend alternative manual therapy techniques that may be more suitable for your needs.

  • How can I prepare for my first visit?

To best prepare for your session, please complete the required online forms (link provided in your email). If you did not receive the forms or have any difficulty accessing them, feel free to contact us: [email protected]. We recommend having a light meal and staying well-hydrated prior to your appointment. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to the treatment area—e.g., shorts for cupping the legs.

Keep in mind that temporary cupping marks may appear and last from a few hours to a week. If you have an upcoming event (like a wedding or photoshoot), consider rescheduling your session.
